Hyderabad: Telangana University held its second convocation ceremony at the university sports ground in Dichpally, honouring academic achievers from 2014 to 2023 across multiple disciplines.
Telangana Governor and University Chancellor Jishnu Dev Varma officiated as the chief guest and awarded degrees and medals during the event.
Among those honoured were ten outstanding graduates of the Mass Media and Journalism department of Telangana Urdu University, who received the Tabassum Fareedi Memorial Gold Medal for securing the highest marks in their cohort between 2014 and 2023.
The medal recipients were Hajara Faheem (2014), Farheen Begum (2015), Syed Laiq (2016), Ayesha Siddiqua (2017), Hina Tasleem (2018), Sana Sultana (2019), Saleha Sehnaz (2020), Farhana Begum (2021), Farhana Bano (2022), and Safa Maheen (2023).
The Tabassum Fareedi Memorial Gold Medal, established 12 years ago by the Urdu daily Nizamabad Morning Times, is awarded annually to the top-performing student in the MA Urdu (Mass Media and Journalism) programme.
The ceremony was attended by Rajya Sabha MP K.R. Suresh Reddy, Armoor MLA P. Rakesh Reddy, Nizamabad Urban MLA Dhanpal Surya Narayana, senior Congress leader Ashfaq Ahmed Khan, and other dignitaries from Telangana and Nizamabad.
