Hyderabad: The Telangana government decided to file objections in the Supreme Court against the Polavaram Nallamala Sagar project. Officials said the plan threatened to submerge parts of Telangana. They added that it also violated inter-State agreements. The State noted that Andhra Pradesh had changed the project name but not the core design.
Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi will argue the case for Telangana. Government sources said the Banakacharla component remained a major concern. They warned that villages in Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem and Mulugu faced the risk of flooding. Large tracts of farmland could also be affected.
