Telangana sets March 15 deadline for digital crop survey

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao on Monday set a March 15 deadline for completing the digital crop survey across Telangana and asked officials to fast-track the process.

He issued the directions during a high-level review meeting held at the Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana State Secretariat. Central government Agriculture Department Advisor and Agristack Chief Knowledge Officer Rajeev Chawla chaired the meeting.

During the review, Ramakrishna Rao instructed officials to work in close coordination with district collectors and National Informatics Centre teams. He said timely completion of the digital crop survey would strengthen the delivery of welfare schemes.

Officials informed the Chief Secretary that teams had already carried out the survey in 10,877 villages across the state. They said departments were coordinating to prevent delays and maintain data accuracy.

Digital crop survey to support schemes and GSDP data

Explaining the importance of the digital crop survey, Ramakrishna Rao said the data would assist both Central and State government programmes. He added that the survey would also help in preparing Gross State Domestic Product estimates.

Addressing the meeting, Rajeev Chawla said states such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Odisha had already completed the digital crop survey. He advised Telangana to complete the exercise at the earliest on similar lines.

Agriculture Department Director Gopi briefed senior officials on the progress so far. He explained the steps taken for the seasonal digital crop survey and outlined measures to improve coverage.

Revenue Secretary Lokesh Kumar, Agriculture Secretary Surendra Mohan, Stamps and Registration Special Secretary Rajiv Gandhi Hanmanthu, along with other senior officials, attended the review meeting.
