Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha announced Dr Nalamasa Srikanth Goud as the party’s candidate for the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda graduate MLC constituency on the occasion of Dasara. The announcement made him the party’s first candidate for a direct election since its formation.
Kavitha also appointed senior party leader Syed Ismail as the state observer and election coordinator for the constituency. The party said he would oversee coordination for the graduate MLC election across the three districts.
Srikanth Goud hails from Kousalya Devipalli village in Narsimhulapet mandal of the erstwhile Warangal district, now part of Mahabubabad district. He completed his PhD at Kakatiya University and actively participated in the Telangana statehood movement.
Srikanth Goud MLC candidate has long association with Kavitha
Goud had worked alongside Kavitha from the early days of Telangana Jagruthi. He also served as a party spokesperson, representing the organisation in television debates and meetings organised by public associations.
The Srikanth Goud MLC candidate announcement marked Telangana Rakshana Sena’s first move to field a candidate in a Legislative Council election since the party’s establishment. Kavitha made the announcement on Dasara, confirming Goud as its choice for the graduate constituency.
The party highlighted Kavitha’s role in organising movements and raising issues affecting backward and marginalised communities over the past three years. Her selection of Goud continued that political approach, according to the party’s announcement.
