Telangana Railways get major boost as Budget allocation jumps six-fold

Hyderabad: Telangana Railways budget allocation has recorded a sharp rise, with the Union Government allotting ₹5,454 crore for 2026–27. This reflects a six-fold increase over the average ₹886 crore sanctioned between 2009 and 2014.

The funding boost has accelerated rail infrastructure development across the State. Projects worth ₹47,984 crore are underway. These include new railway lines, station upgrades, and advanced safety installations.

According to Indian Railways, this expansion supports national goals to improve mobility and boost economic activity.

Telangana Railways budget allocation fuels connectivity and safety

As part of the Amrit Station Scheme, 40 stations in Telangana are being redeveloped at a cost of ₹2,015 crore. Work has already finished at Begumpet, Karimnagar, Warangal, and Sri Bala Brahmeswara Jogulamba stations.

Train services have also expanded. Telangana now runs five pairs of Vande Bharat Express and three pairs of Amrit Bharat Express trains. These additions have enhanced passenger access across key corridors.

Since 2014, the State has added about 900 km of new rail lines. The entire railway network in Telangana is now fully electrified, cutting fuel costs and emissions.

In addition, Indian Railways is deploying KAVACH, a collision-avoidance system, to prevent accidents and ensure safer operations.
