Hyderabad: Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka reaffirmed the state’s commitment to uninterrupted and high-quality electricity supply during the southern states’ energy ministers’ conference held in Bengaluru on Friday. Addressing the gathering convened by the Union Ministry of Power, Bhatti Vikramarka said Telangana was actively strengthening its energy infrastructure and operational capabilities to meet growing demand and support national energy objectives.
He said the conference had offered a vital platform for collaboration between state and central governments, particularly on improving energy transmission networks, integrating clean energy sources, and bolstering the reliability of the grid. Emphasising the need for long-term planning, Bhatti Vikramarka said Telangana was preparing strategic expansions in transmission and transformation capacity with projections extending through 2034–35.
The Deputy Chief Minister noted that Telangana was prioritising operational improvements in power distribution, aiming to cut technical and commercial losses while maintaining financial viability. He said a stable financial foundation was essential for ensuring continuous service and attracting future investments into the power sector.
He shared that the Telangana government is fast-tracking the rollout of electric vehicle charging stations. Alongside that, it’s working to make grid connections simpler and setting clear targets to help grow the EV ecosystem.
He said cyber-security measures and stronger emergency response protocols were being developed to protect the grid’s integrity.
Looking ahead, Bhatti Vikramarka said the state was committed to addressing future power demands with a proactive approach, including the integration of renewable sources and pumped storage solutions to stabilise the grid. He reiterated that close cooperation between states and the Union government would be key to achieving shared energy goals.
The event was attended by Union Power Minister Manohar Lal, Minister of State for Power Shripad Yesso Naik, Karnataka Energy Minister KJ George, and Tamil Nadu Energy Minister Shivashankar.
