Telangana Police signs MoU with IPF for reform project in mid-state

Hyderabad: Telangana Police has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indian Police Foundation (IPF) to roll out a police reform project in key regions of the state.

Director General of Police Anjani Kumar said the state Home Department approved the project through G.O.Rt. No. 765, issued on August 18. He confirmed the agreement during a meeting on Monday at his office, where senior police officials and IPF representatives were present.

IPF has selected Cyberabad and Sangareddy for the pilot phase. The project will be implemented in 15 police stations under the Cyberabad Commissionerate and 15 in Sangareddy district. Staff at these stations will receive targeted training.

The reform model will draw on practices from other states. These include e-FIR systems, community policing, revised standard operating procedures, and recommendations from the Police Commission. Officials will compile a detailed report based on these trials.

Police Academy Director Abhilasha Bisht will serve as the nodal officer for the project.

DGP Kumar said the initiative will add value to ongoing efforts such as ‘Mee Seva’ services, QR code tracking in police stations, Centers of Excellence, and the ‘T-Safe’ app for women’s safety.

Founded by former DGP N. Ramachandran, IPF also works with civil service boards. IPF President and CEO Om Prakash Singh, a former Uttar Pradesh DGP, said the foundation has state units in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. It will soon expand to Telangana, he added.
