Reactor blast toll rises at Telangana pharma unit; families protest outside plant

Hyderabad: The death toll from the reactor blast at Sigachi Pharma’s Telangana facility continues to climb, as search operations remain incomplete.

Outside the unit, families of missing workers staged protests, alleging that neither the company nor the police had provided any information about their relatives. Several relatives confronted staff and police officers at the site, accusing them of failing to act with urgency.

Anger among families grew as officials remained silent on the number of missing persons and identification procedures. Protesters said no timeline had been given for when DNA results would be available or how bodies would be identified.

Many waited through the day outside the compound, some in tears, saying they had received no updates from the authorities on the fate of their relatives.
