Hyderabad: Police in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district have arrested six people, including a man’s stepson, for allegedly orchestrating and executing his murder. The killing was planned as a contract job for ₹1.5 lakh.
Disclosing case details at the Regonda police station on Wednesday, DSP Sampath Rao said the victim, Parsha Ravi (40), of Kompalli village in Bhupalpally mandal, was murdered by his second wife’s son from a previous marriage, Patapalli Srikar, with the help of five accomplices.
Ravi had divorced his first wife and later married Renuka, a widow with two children. They had a son together. Suspecting Renuka of infidelity, Ravi reportedly subjected her to repeated physical and emotional abuse. Multiple community interventions failed to resolve the issue.
Frustrated, Renuka’s elder son, Srikar, conspired to kill Ravi. He enlisted the help of Kayita Sripal from Kompalli and Bommakanti Uday Chander from Hanumakonda. Uday Chander then arranged a ₹1.5 lakh deal with his associates Pasula Sandeep and Moluguri Naresh.
Sripal paid the hired killers in instalments—₹25,000 initially, followed by three digital transfers of ₹14,000, ₹3,000, and ₹10,000 via Google Pay. The group rented a Maruti Dzire from Suresh in Hanumakonda to carry out the plan.
On July 10, they lured Ravi and Renuka into the car under the pretext of helping Srikar find a job. En route, they stopped near a wine shop in Kompalli on the pretext of drinking. Later that night, they drove to the Buggu hills near Tirumalagiri and strangled Ravi with a rope.
They dumped the body in nearby bushes, looted ₹20,000 from his pocket, discarded the rope, and fled. Based on a complaint by the victim’s first wife’s relatives, police launched an investigation.
On Wednesday, Regonda SI Sandeep Kumar apprehended the accused at a check-post in Hanumakonda. Based on photos from Srikar’s phone, officers located the murder site and recovered the rope. CI Mallesh Yadav and local police assisted in the operation.
