Hyderabad: Telangana Mahila Congress president Mogali Sunitha Rao publicly addressed a disciplinary notice issued to her, during a press meet at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday. She clarified her position and reaffirmed her allegiance to the Congress party amid swirling rumours about her political future.
Rao stated that she had responded formally to the disciplinary communication and had personally spoken with senior Congress leaders, including state in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC president Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud. She also met All India Mahila Congress president Alka Lamba during a recent visit to Delhi to discuss the issue.
Calling the events at Gandhi Bhavan unfortunate, Sunitha Rao accepted responsibility for any actions – intentional or otherwise – taken by her or her Mahila Congress team. She appealed for forgiveness from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud, and the party high command, stating her unwavering loyalty to the Congress.
She dismissed media speculation about her switching parties, labelling such rumours baseless. “I am not leaving the party. I remain committed to the Congress and will abide by the decisions of the leadership,” she stated firmly.
On a forward-looking note, Rao welcomed TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud’s assurance that stronger support would be extended to the Mahila Congress in the coming days, along with a promise of justice and representation for SC, ST, BC, and minority communities.
The Mahila Congress has also announced a structured leadership training programme for district presidents, to be held every Tuesday starting from 3 January at the party’s Indira Bhavan headquarters in Delhi, with five district leaders participating each week.
