Telangana releases ₹33 crore loan waiver for weavers

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has released ₹33 crore towards a loan waiver for handloom workers. Handlooms and Textiles Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao announced this release.

He stated that the move follows renewed efforts to strengthen worker welfare schemes. It also aims to revive the handloom sector. Additionally, Telangana State Handloom Weavers’ Cooperative Society (TESCO) received orders worth ₹588 crore as part of these initiatives.

According to Rao, under the Indira Mahila Shakti scheme, women from self-help groups were engaged in saree production. This was done through 130 MACS and 56 SSI units across Rajanna Sircilla, Karimnagar, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Mancherial, and Hanumakonda districts.
