Hyderabad: Telangana will pursue a strategy beyond ‘Make in India’ through its new ‘Invent in Telangana’ push, IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu said on Sunday.
Speaking at the IITEX 2025 valedictory at HITEX, the Minister said the initiative would focus on innovation-driven growth under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. Telangana posted a 2.9% compound monthly growth rate in its Index of Industrial Production for the first quarter of the financial year, compared to a national figure of 0.52%. The state’s industry GSVA touched ₹2.77 lakh crore for 2024–25. Growth in power use (15.6%), GST collections (9.8%), and payroll enrolments (13.9%) also reflected industrial strength.
Sridhar Babu rejected claims that industries were leaving Telangana, stating the state had secured ₹3 lakh crore of investments in 18 months, including ₹40,000 crore in life sciences. About 150 new projects were launched, creating jobs for 51,000 directly and 1.5 lakh indirectly.
For zoning, the Minister outlined a three-tier strategy: technology and services inside the Outer Ring Road, manufacturing between the ORR and Regional Ring Road, and rural innovation zones beyond the RRR. He described these measures as part of a stable industrial ecosystem.
He said the economic vision was to reach a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and $3 trillion by 2047. The Tony Blair Institute is working with the state on the Telangana Rising 2047 project, with the Minister inviting stakeholders to participate.
On MSMEs, Sridhar Babu reported 15,000 new units in the past 18 months, aiming to lift their share of GSDP to 10%. MSME parks are being developed in every district, with priority to women, SC and ST entrepreneurs.
FTCCI President Dr. Suresh Kumar Singhal, Senior Vice President R. Ravi Kumar, Vice President K.K. Maheshwari, and IITEX 2025 convenor Vimalesh Gupta were present.
