Hyderabad: Amid mounting pressure from employee unions, the Telangana government has constituted a high-level committee comprising three senior IAS officers to address long-standing demands of various government departments and prevent a series of planned strikes.
The committee includes senior bureaucrats Naveen Mittal, Lokesh Kumar, and Krishna Bhaskar, and has been tasked with engaging directly with union representatives. The government has directed the committee to conduct discussions at the earliest and submit a detailed report with actionable recommendations.
The move comes as state-run RTC employees have threatened to go on strike starting 7 May 2025, citing unresolved service and welfare issues. Joining the wave of discontent, workers from Singareni Collieries have also announced their intention to launch a strike later this month unless their concerns are addressed.
With multiple unions preparing for industrial action, the state government is under pressure to act quickly to avoid disruptions in public transport and essential services. Sources indicate that the committee will begin talks immediately, aiming to build consensus and defuse the growing tension.
Officials say the government is treating the matter with urgency and views dialogue as the most constructive path forward.
