Telangana High Court reserves verdict on KTR’s petition to quash FIR in Medigadda drone case

HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court has reserved its verdict on the petition filed by BRS leader and former minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) seeking to quash the FIR registered against him at Mahadevpur Police Station. The case pertains to allegations of unauthorized drone usage over the Medigadda Barrage, which authorities claim is a restricted area.

The public prosecutor argued that flying a drone over the barrage posed a security threat and emphasized that the location has been declared a restricted zone by the state government. However, KTR’s legal counsel contended that the central government had not issued any such notification declaring Medigadda Barrage a restricted area.

KTR’s lawyer further argued that the case could be resolved with a fine, as per the allegations mentioned in the complaint. He also accused the police of altering sections under political pressure to strengthen the case against KTR.

Additionally, KTR’s counsel pointed out that all witness statements in the case appeared identical, raising concerns over their credibility. The High Court, after hearing both sides, has reserved its judgment on the matter.
