HYDERABAD: The Telangana High Court has extended the stay on the Group 1 recruitment process until June 11, following allegations of irregularities in the examination. The court has also postponed the next hearing to the same date.
The stay order prohibits the issuance of appointment letters until a final verdict is reached. The decision stems from writ petitions filed by 19 government employees and one unemployed candidate, who alleged misconduct in the examination process. The High Court is currently reviewing the Telangana Public Service Commission’s (TSPSC) arguments and will determine whether to uphold the single bench’s order or lift the stay.
The outcome of the court’s decision is anticipated to have significant political implications in the state.
It is to be noted that about 19 government employees and an unemployed youth who appeared for the Group 1 Mains approached the High Court and demanded for investigation into the evaluation procedure of the Group 1 Mains examinations. High Court heard the arguments of petitioners and TGPSC and instructed the Commission to hold back the appointment orders until further orders.
The court’s order after the extended June 11 stay would have far reaching consequences in any case.
