HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad, has issued a hailstorm alert for several districts in Telangana over the next two days, warning of thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds and lightning. Orange and yellow warnings have been issued in response to the anticipated weather disturbances.
On Friday, scattered hailstorms are expected in Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Nizamabad, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, and Mahabubnagar districts. The IMD has issued an orange alert for these areas, indicating the potential for intense weather activity.
A yellow alert has been issued for several other districts, where thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds ranging from 30 to 40 km/h are likely. These include Rajanna Sircilla, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanamkonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Hyderabad, Medchal–Malkajgiri, Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Jogulamba Gadwal.
The IMD has advised residents of these districts to remain cautious and avoid outdoor activities during stormy periods.
On Saturday, thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds are expected in Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Hanamkonda, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Medchal–Malkajgiri, Vikarabad, and Jangaon districts. The weather agency has again warned of the possibility of hailstorms in isolated places.
Authorities have been urged to remain vigilant, and the public is advised to stay updated with local weather bulletins and take necessary precautions, especially in hailstorm-prone areas.
