HYDERABAD, January 25, 2025: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma has called upon all citizens aged 18 and above to exercise their constitutional right to vote. He made this appeal during the 15th National Voters’ Day celebrations held at Ravindra Bharathi on Saturday.
The Governor inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp and honored several district collectors and booth-level officers with the Best Electoral Practices Awards for 2024. He emphasized that the primary aim of National Voters’ Day is to encourage every eligible voter to responsibly cast their vote. He urged citizens not to succumb to any inducements and to ensure their participation in the electoral process. He also highlighted the importance of young individuals who have reached the age of 18 to register as voters.
Among the award recipients were IAS officers Hanumanti Koniba, Rajarshi Shah, Ashish Sangwan, Venkatesh Dhotre, P. Praveenya, Anoop Durishetty, B. Rahul, Garima Agarwal, Adarsh Surabhi, Assistant IG Ramana Kumar, ACP Special Branch Warangal Jitender Reddy, RDO N. Jagadishwar Reddy, Inspector Bodakunti Tirupati, Tehsildar Srinivas Reddy, and AERO Vijay Kumar.
Prior to the award ceremony, a short film on the Telangana State Icon was showcased. Attendees took a pledge to uphold the democratic traditions of the country and to vote fearlessly in every election, free from any undue influence. Governor Varma also unveiled a booklet detailing the Telangana voter list.
The event saw the participation of Telangana Election Commissioner I. Rani Kumudini, Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Lokesh Kumar, GHMC Commissioner Elambarithi, among others.
