Telangana Governor meets PM Modi, attends Bonalu launch in Delhi

Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday. The meeting, described as a courtesy call, reportedly covered ongoing development programmes in Telangana and other matters of state concern. This was the Governor’s first official interaction with the Prime Minister since their meeting during the Governors’ Conference on August 4 last year.

Earlier in the day, the Governor inaugurated the Bonalu celebrations organised by the Simhavahini Sri Mahankali Temple Committee at Telangana Bhavan in Delhi. He also viewed a photo exhibition marking the festival.

The festivities will continue for two days. On July 1, the procession of the deity’s palanquin from India Gate to Telangana Bhavan and the ritual installation of the ‘ghatam’ are scheduled. On July 2, the programme includes the welcome of Pothuraju and the ceremonial offering of the golden Bonam to the goddess.
