Telangana government pushing to turn one crore women into millionaires: Revanth Reddy

Hyderabad: Telangana government wants one crore women to reach millionaire status. That’s the target. Not symbolic. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the plan is already in motion.

He was speaking at the We-Hub Women Acceleration Programme. Said women aren’t just a part of the nation they’re the foundation. Always have been. Congress, he said, recognised that early. Revanth Reddy brought up Indira Gandhi. The wars against China, against Pakistan. “That power? It came from women,” he said. “She showed the world.”

The crowd listened. He didn’t pause for applause. Moved on.

Congress never sidelined women, he said. Didn’t keep them in the background. “They’re ideal for the country. Congress helped prove it.” He didn’t pitch it as history, he tied it straight to now.

Then came numbers. One crore women. That’s who the government is focusing on. The goal: financial power. Direct access. Not welfare. Empowerment.

He listed schemes. Mahalakshmi RTC buses free for women. “That’s Sonia Gandhi’s gift,” he said. Amma Adarsh Pathshala girls overseeing school upkeep. Uniform stitching handed to women’s collectives. Not contracts. Jobs.

Women in petrol pump management. Solar energy projects. “We’re not giving them margins. We’re giving them platforms.”

At Shilparamam, stalls now reserved for women’s goods. Not just shelf space visibility.

Then he spoke about SHGs. “They’re not add-ons. They’re central.” Membership? Aiming for one crore. Already, they’ve been given solar capacity 1000 megawatts. “They’re running it. If it works well, they get another 1000.”

Telangana government

No big promises. Just facts.

He said guests coming to Telangana now receive SHG-made items as gifts. No slogans. Just output.

Then came a sharp turn. Revanth Reddy raised loans. “Sixteen lakh crore rupees went to corporates. They left the country. Our daughters took loans—they repaid them. With interest. That’s who they are.”

Instructions followed. Officials were told: bring in urban women. Connect them to SHGs. Run a drive. Full coverage. “I’m not just your CM,” he said. “I’m your brother. You’ll get whatever support you need.”

He didn’t sum it up. Didn’t wrap with vision talk. Just said, “When daughters rise, the economy follows.”
