Hyderabad: Just ahead of the Kharif season, farmers across Telangana are in for a boost as the State government gears up to distribute seeds starting Monday, June 2. The move, announced on Sunday by Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, comes as part of the State Formation Day celebrations.
Around 40,000 farmers in nearly 11,000 villages are set to benefit, with seeds for five different crops earmarked for distribution. “Ministers and local representatives will personally oversee the process in their respective areas to make sure everything goes smoothly,” the minister said.
Officials have been instructed to keep a close watch on the logistics to ensure that farmers get what they need without any hassles. “We want farmers to have a worry-free start to the Kharif season,” Rao added.
The announcement has sparked a sense of optimism in the farming community, which has been waiting eagerly for support to kickstart sowing. The seeds, according to officials, are of high quality and come at a time when timely rains are expected to set the stage for a good harvest. (With inputs from NSS)
