Telangana employees DA hike announced with pending dues

Hyderabad: The Telangana government issued orders on the long-pending dearness allowance (DA) hike for state government employees, covering two pending DA revisions and arrears. The Telangana employees DA hike will raise the allowance across different pay scales and increase salaries based on basic pay.

First, the government raised the general DA from 33.67 per cent to 37.31 per cent with effect from January 2024. It then increased the rate further to 40.04 per cent from July 2024.

For employees covered by the Revised Pay Scale-2020, the government raised DA directly from 37.31 per cent to 40.04 per cent. As a result, employees will see an increase of about 6.43 per cent in salary based on their basic pay.

Similarly, employees under the 2015 pay scale received a DA increase from 73.344 per cent to 78.06 per cent. From July 2024, the rate rose further to 81.728 per cent.

The government also revised DA rates for employees covered by UGC and AICTE pay scales. For those under the 2016 pay scale, DA rose from 46 per cent to 50 per cent initially. From July 2024, the rate increased to 53 per cent.

Telangana employees DA hike covers multiple pay scales and arrears

Meanwhile, employees under the 2006 pay scale received a DA increase from 230 per cent to 239 per cent. From July 2024, the government raised the rate further to 246 per cent.

In addition, the government announced a monthly increase of Rs 100 for part-time assistants and village revenue assistants (VRA). The measure also covers employees performing field-level duties.

The revised DA will reach employees along with their October 2026 salary. The government will pay the salary on November 1.

However, the orders also address accumulated DA arrears. The government will pay the arrears due from January 2024 to September 2026 in 33 equal instalments.

Similarly, arrears accumulated from July 2024 to September 2026 will be adjusted through 27 instalments. The government directed officials to credit these arrears directly to employees’ General Provident Fund (GPF) accounts.

The Telangana employees DA hike therefore covers revised DA rates across the specified pay scales as well as the scheduled settlement of pending arrears.
