Hyderabad: Telangana has completed all 23 priority reforms under Phase I of its deregulation and compliance reduction exercise, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju announced on Friday. The state reached 100% implementation after enacting the State Jan Vishwas Bill, which fulfilled the final pending requirement.
Jaju reviewed the state’s progress at a high-level meeting at the Secretariat alongside Union government Secretary Sukriti Likhi. During the meeting, he confirmed that the new legislation had completed the first phase of the reform programme.
The Chief Secretary said these measures reflected the government’s efforts to simplify regulations and reduce compliance burdens. Furthermore, he stressed the need to create a competitive environment for businesses and industries.
Telangana deregulation reforms advance into Phase II
With Phase I complete, the state has shifted its attention to Phase II. This stage covers 28 priority areas, including 23 mandatory reforms and five optional measures. Telangana has already operationalised 12 of these areas, Jaju said.
The government aims to complete all remaining applicable reforms by November 15, 2026. Accordingly, officials will focus on the outstanding measures to meet the deadline.
Jaju also highlighted Telangana’s status as one of India’s most urbanised states. He emphasised that removing unnecessary procedural hurdles was essential to sustain economic and industrial growth.
Meanwhile, Union Secretary Sukriti Likhi outlined central government initiatives to improve the ease of doing business nationwide. She explained that deregulation could reduce administrative obstacles for businesses as well as citizens.
Following the completion of all 23 Phase I reforms, Telangana’s immediate target is to finish the remaining applicable Phase II measures by November 15, 2026.
