Hyderabad: Telangana’s democratic movement and rapid development have attracted international interest, BRS MLC Dr. Sravan Dasoju said after a high-level interaction with members of the German Bundestag.
The German delegation, led by Josef Oster and comprising MPs from across party lines, held discussions with Dasoju on Telangana’s democratic history, institutional governance, and growth after statehood. He said the delegation showed strong interest in understanding the Telangana Agitation led by BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao and the state’s post-bifurcation progress.
Dasoju described the Telangana movement as a democratic fight for dignity and federal justice, not just a regional campaign. “It is heartening to see global legislators keenly understand and appreciate this journey,” he said.
The meeting also explored themes such as federalism, judicial systems, internal governance, industry, and constitutional integrity. Dasoju emphasised that Telangana has upheld federal values and democratic mandates since its formation.
Hyderabad’s pluralistic identity, economic strength, and global outlook were key parts of the dialogue. Dasoju noted that the city symbolises India’s composite culture and readiness for the future.
“Such international exchanges enhance democratic partnerships and deepen people-to-people ties,” he said. He also stressed the importance of maintaining democratic dialogue in a polarised world, adding that Telangana is ready to contribute meaningfully to global platforms rooted in democratic values.
