HYDERABAD: The ruling Congress party in Telangana has intensified its focus on the upcoming MLC elections under the MLA quota.
On Wednesday morning, AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan met with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy at his residence in Jubilee Hills. The meeting was attended by Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, and PCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud.
According to sources, discussions revolved around the criteria for selecting MLC candidates. Given the fierce competition for MLC seats, the party leadership aimed to establish selection norms that would prevent internal conflicts and ensure a smooth process.
As part of this effort, Meenakshi Natarajan had earlier conducted a review meeting with party leaders from the Medak and Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituencies. The findings from this meeting were also discussed with the Chief Minister.
Reports suggest that the Congress party is keen on allocating MLC seats exclusively to loyal party workers. With a large number of applications pouring into the PCC, Wednesday’s discussions held significant importance.
Meanwhile, a cabinet meeting is scheduled for Thursday, after which further deliberations on cabinet decisions and final MLC candidate selection will take place. There is speculation that CM Revanth Reddy may visit Delhi again on Friday to continue discussions with the party’s high command.
