Hyderabad: Telangana will partner with Estonia to bolster digital infrastructure and accelerate reforms in e-governance and healthcare digitisation, state IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu announced on Friday.
The collaboration was confirmed following his meeting with Estonian Ambassador to India Marje Luup and a high-level trade delegation at the Secretariat. Estonia, globally recognised for its pioneering digital public services and complete health data digitisation, will share technical expertise with Telangana to enhance public service delivery.
“Estonia’s progress in digital governance is exceptional. Telangana intends to leverage this partnership to fast-track digital health initiatives and expand e-governance capabilities,” Sridhar Babu said.
The visiting Estonian delegation included experts in ICT, AI, robotics, and healthcare, with discussions centering on joint opportunities in public administration, emerging technologies, and cybersecurity.
The Minister emphasised the increasing importance of securing digital infrastructure. “Cybersecurity is as critical as digitisation. Estonia’s cooperation in this area will be key,” he said.
Citing advances in drone technology, Sridhar Babu noted Hyderabad’s strategic role in recent operations, including deployments in cross-border situations. “Future warfare will revolve around drones and cyberattacks,” he said.
He also proposed cooperation in sectors such as food processing and premium liquor production, where Telangana holds a strong industrial presence.
A Telangana delegation will travel to Estonia in September to explore collaboration in education, AI, robotics, and digital governance. The team will include senior bureaucrats including Sanjay Kumar, Special Chief Secretary, and commissioners from the IT and industries departments.
