Telangana launches Civil Defence Volunteer Training for youth

Hyderabad: The Telangana Fire Disaster Response Emergency and Civil Defence Department launched Civil Defence Volunteer Training to prepare youth as first responders before emergency services arrive.

The seven-day programme will run from March 10 to March 16, 2026.

Former Director General of Fire Services Aruna M Bahuguna inaugurated the programme on March 10. The event took place at St. Mary’s Centenary Degree College in Secunderabad.

Civil Defence Volunteer Training focuses on emergency response

Officials said the programme will help departments use trained volunteers during disasters and emergency situations.

The training will cover rescue operations, firefighting techniques and first aid treatment.

Volunteers will also learn crowd control and distribution of relief materials during emergencies.

Authorities said volunteers will work with the police, fire services and the National Disaster Response Force.

Vikram Singh Mann directed officials to make the programme successful.

He said trained volunteers can support communities during emergencies and help save lives.

Officials and faculty members who attended the programme included RFO MZ-1 B. Sudhakar Rao and Assistant Professor Mariyappan.

Dean of Academics Dr. Kalyani, Assistant Professor Md Abdul Raheem and DFO Das also attended the event.

Other officials from the fire department were present.
