Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy confirmed that the Telangana Cabinet will meet on November 17 to decide on local body elections.
Ministers and senior officials will attend the meeting. Officials expect the Cabinet to finalise the election schedule. The notification is likely by the end of November or in the first week of December.
The Congress government is looking to capitalise on its recent win in the Jubilee Hills by-election. It views the local polls as a chance to expand its support base in both rural and urban areas.
The state also plans to use elected local bodies to fast-track the rollout of its six key guarantees after the elections.
