HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has announced summer holidays for all Anganwadi centres in the state, effective from May 1 to June 1, in view of the prevailing heatwave conditions.
Given the soaring temperatures across Telangana, the decision aims to safeguard the health of children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers attending these centres.
During the holiday period, the government has directed that nutritional support be continued through take-home ration kits. Eggs and essential grocery items will be distributed directly to the homes of registered beneficiaries, including children, expectant, and nursing mothers.
Meanwhile, Anganwadi teachers will be assigned alternative duties such as conducting household surveys, home visits, and identifying children eligible for enrolment into Anganwadi services. Officials stated that these tasks are part of an ongoing effort to strengthen early childhood care and outreach during the summer break.
