Hyderabad: Telangana’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested Engineer-in-Chief of the Panchayat Raj Engineering Department, Veeravalli Kanakaratnam, for demanding and accepting a ₹50,000 bribe. The official was caught red-handed by the ACB City Range-2 unit while allegedly accepting the bribe in exchange for a transfer and posting favour.
According to ACB, the bribe amount was recovered from Kanakaratnam at his instance, and a chemical test confirmed bribe contact on his left hand. The officer is being sent to judicial remand and further investigation is underway.
The ACB has reiterated its appeal to the public to report any bribery demands by public servants via its toll-free number 1064. Citizens can also reach the bureau through WhatsApp (9440446106), Facebook, and X/Twitter (@TelanganaACB). Officials assured that the identities of complainants will remain confidential.
