Telangana ACB catches two officials in bribery cases in Adilabad and Medak

HYDERABAD: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials have apprehended two government officials in separate bribery cases in Adilabad and Medak.

Adilabad Bribery Case

Jinnamwar Shankar, Deputy Executive Engineer (Dy.E.E.) of the Educational & Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation (EWIDC), Adilabad Town, was caught by ACB officials while demanding a bribe of Rs 1,00,000 and accepting Rs 50,000 as the first installment from a complainant.

The bribe was sought in exchange for sanctioning a Rs 2 crore bill for the construction of a Minority Residential School (Girls) building in Adilabad Town, a project completed by the complainant.

Initially, Shankar demanded Rs 2,00,000, but after negotiation, he reduced the amount to Rs 1,00,000 upon the complainant’s request.

Medak Bribery Case

In another incident, Nakirekanti Janaiah, a Revenue Inspector at the Municipal Office, Medak Town and District, was caught accepting Rs 12,000 from a complainant after demanding Rs 20,000.

The bribe was solicited to conduct an official inquiry regarding a mutation application for an open plot owned by a known associate of the complainant and to submit the inquiry report to the Municipal Commissioner of Medak Town.

The Telangana ACB has urged citizens to report corruption through the Dial 1064 helpline.
