Hyderabad: The Telangana government has decided to submit a proposal for the construction of 642 kilometres of rural roads under Phase IV of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
The decision was taken at a meeting of the State Level Standing Committee held on Tuesday at the Secretariat. Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao chaired the session, attended by Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj, Principal Secretary N. Sridhar, and senior departmental officials.
Officials confirmed that road and bridge works sanctioned in the first three phases of PMGSY have been completed. The current proposal aims to improve road access in 227 habitations that still lack proper connectivity.
The proposed plan covers 642.23 kilometres of new rural roads. Of this, 148 kilometres span forest areas across 34 projects and will require clearance from the Forest Department.
PMGSY Phase IV to include bridge DPRs next week
Principal Secretary Sridhar stated that the Detailed Project Reports for bridges along these routes will be finalised within a week. The proposal will then be forwarded to the central government for funding consideration under PMGSY Phase IV.
