Bellary: A tragic end to a young love story has sent shockwaves through villages in the undivided Bellary district, as the bodies of a teenage couple who had been missing for a week were found hanging in a forested area near Harapanahalli.
The deceased have been identified as Maddanaswamy (18) from Bittinakatti village and Deepika (18) from Bandri village. Both had recently passed their PUC examinations with first-class marks and were reportedly in a relationship.
The couple went missing last week under unclear circumstances, prompting their families to file missing persons reports with the local police. Despite ongoing searches by police and family members, the two remained untraceable until Wednesday.
Their bodies were discovered near the ITI College on the outskirts of Harapanahalli town, in a wooded area. Police rushed to the scene and carried out preliminary investigations. The bodies were shifted to a government hospital for post-mortem examination, and a case has been registered.
The discovery has cast a pall of grief over both families and the surrounding communities, leaving villagers in shock and mourning. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the suspected suicide.
