Hyderabad: Minister for IT and Industries D. Sridhar Babu on Thursday described the ₹7,032 crore H-CITI project as a key component in Hyderabad’s transformation and urban expansion strategy.
He was speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony for a ₹45 crore road widening project from NH-65 to Ameenpur, which he said aligns with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s broader vision for urban development.
Sridhar Babu said the H-CITI initiative aims to construct flyovers, underpasses, and widen road corridors to reduce traffic bottlenecks, cut travel time, and boost overall road connectivity. He added that the project is being implemented with a focus on environmental sustainability.
The Minister said 1,000 electric buses are being deployed under TSRTC, with another 800 under consideration. He noted that the Central government has expressed willingness to collaborate. AI-driven traffic signal systems and electric vehicle charging stations are also being introduced across key locations.
He added that pedestrian safety is a priority area, with new technologies being implemented to address urban mobility challenges.
Sridhar Babu emphasised that the State government’s urban initiatives are inclusive and not limited to select zones. He also criticised what he termed misinformation campaigns, particularly referencing controversies around HCU land, and said the government would remain focused on transparent and equitable development.
The ceremony was attended by local MLA Arikepudi Gandhi, corporators Manjula and Ragam Nagender Yadav, and other public representatives.
