Hyderabad: BRS MLC Sravan Dasoju on Saturday demanded a judicial probe into the fire at Telangana’s Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), alleging it may have been a planned effort to destroy sensitive evidence.
In a press statement, Sravan questioned the timing of the fire. He raised concerns about how case-critical files were damaged in a secure section of the lab. He described the incident as a “calculated conspiracy” and criticised the absence of digital backups. According to him, in the digital era, claiming a total loss of evidence without backups insults public intelligence.

Sravan argued that the loss of evidence suggests an attempt to shield powerful individuals. “Is this an organized incineration of truth?” he asked. While he acknowledged the safe escape of four staff members, he said the real tragedy might be the loss of truth in the flames.
He warned that not ordering a transparent inquiry would raise serious questions about the government’s role. He demanded a judicial investigation led by a sitting High Court judge. Additionally, he called for a white paper on data recovery efforts and the current status of all affected files.
Sravan also urged structural reforms at FSL. He opposed the appointment of IPS officers as Directors, insisting that a qualified forensic scientist should lead the institution. According to him, this would ensure professional autonomy and prevent conflicts of interest.
