The incident took place on Tuesday morning in Cheonan, a city located south of the capital Seoul. Construction work was underway on an expressway, and at around 9:49 AM, workers were using a crane to transport a 50-meter-long steel structure meant to support the bridge. During the process, the already assembled metal framework suddenly collapsed, causing a chain reaction.
Two workers lost their lives on the spot, while five others sustained injuries. Among the injured, four are reported to be in critical condition. Authorities believe that more individuals may still be trapped under the debris. Rescue teams are working intensively to extract those stuck beneath the wreckage. Meanwhile, the injured have been rushed to the hospital for treatment.
