Hyderabad: The Telangana government is set to begin construction of solar parking panels at the Secretariat complex, with the foundation stone scheduled for December 15. The project aims to promote green energy. It will meet a portion of the Secretariat’s power needs through solar energy.
The government has sanctioned ₹17 crore for the project, which will involve the construction of solar-panel covered carports in the southwest and northwest parking zones of the Secretariat. These solar canopies will feature multi-level (G+2) parking structures. This design is meant to maximise space and energy generation.
TGREDCO, R&B departments to execute green energy project
The project will be implemented jointly by the Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TGREDCO) and the Roads and Buildings Department. The initiative aligns with the government’s push for renewable energy integration in public infrastructure.
Once completed, the solar parking infrastructure will reduce the Secretariat’s dependence on conventional electricity sources. This will contribute to sustainability goals and efficient energy use across the government complex.
