Hyderabad: The High Court dismissed a petition challenging the government’s decision in the smart ration card tender. The court held that judicial review in government procurement matters is limited, and no grounds existed for interference.
Rosmerta Technologies Limited filed the petition. The company questioned its disqualification from the Civil Supplies Department’s tender for the procurement of PVC smart ration cards embedded with QR codes. The court examined the tender process and the actions of the authorities before reaching its conclusion.
Justice Madhavi Devi, who heard the matter, observed that the scope for courts to intervene in government tenders was narrow unless there was clear arbitrariness or violation of established procedures. The judge noted that such conditions were not present in this case.
Court upholds government decision in smart ration card tender
The court noted that the authorities had provided the petitioner with an adequate opportunity to comply with the tender conditions. It further held that the decision taken by the Civil Supplies Department was based on the tender requirements. Therefore, it could not be termed arbitrary or unreasonable.
Rejecting the petitioner’s arguments, the High Court ruled that the government had acted within its अधिकार and in accordance with the tender norms. As a result, the petition challenging the smart ration card tender process was dismissed. This reinforces the principle that courts should exercise restraint in contractual and tender-related disputes.
