Hyderabad: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) summoned former minister and BRS senior MLA Harish Rao in the phone tapping case, marking a significant step in the ongoing investigation.
The SIT directed Harish Rao to appear for questioning at the Jubilee Hills police station at 11 am on Tuesday. Officials said the summons formed part of the probe into the alleged phone tapping operation that triggered widespread political debate in Telangana. The State government had earlier set up the SIT to investigate the matter.

Sources said the SIT served the summons at Harish Rao’s residence while he was away on a Siddipet tour. Investigators proceeded with the process as per procedure, despite his absence. Earlier, the SIT issued notices to several other individuals and recorded their statements in the same phone tapping case.
Officials said the inquiry continued to focus on gathering evidence and fixing accountability. They added that the questioning aimed to establish the sequence of events linked to the alleged surveillance.
