Hyderabad: A crucial phase in the phone tapping case concluded on Thursday as the Special Investigation Team (SIT) ends questioning after its 14-day-long interrogation of key accused and former SIB chief Prabhakar Rao. The questioning phase was intense and comprehensive until the SIT ends questioning officially.
According to sources, the SIT questioned Rao in detail regarding the contents of a pen drive, which it considers critical evidence. The SIT completed believing they have obtained all necessary information. Investigators believe that Rao stored tapping-related data in the pen drive during his tenure with the Special Intelligence Bureau. The device reportedly contains over 6,000 phone numbers.
The SIT confronted Rao with the pen drive data during the questioning, but what he disclosed in response remains unclear. After probing numerous leads, the SIT ends questioning with many aspects still unresolved. Official sources indicated that Rao declined to answer several key questions related to the operation.
SIT also grills Rao’s son on financial links
Alongside Rao’s interrogation, SIT officials also questioned his son Nishant Rao about certain financial transactions possibly linked to the case. Meanwhile, Deccan Kitchen owner Nandakumar had earlier recorded a statement before the SIT.
The complete investigation report is expected to be submitted to the Supreme Court on Friday, concluding the process as SIT ends questioning for good.
