Sirpur-Kagaznagar train catches fire near Bibinagar

Hyderabad: A Sirpur-Kagaznagar train caught fire at Bibinagar railway station in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on Wednesday morning after a brake liner touched the wheel.

The train travelled from Secunderabad towards Sirpur-Kagaznagar when smoke and flames appeared near Bibinagar. The co-pilot spotted the smoke and immediately alerted the loco pilot.

The driver then stopped the train at Bibinagar. Railway staff quickly assessed the situation and alerted fire services.

A fire engine reached the station soon after. Fire personnel tackled the flames and brought the situation under control before it could escalate.

The sudden appearance of smoke caused concern among passengers. However, the crew responded quickly and prevented the situation from worsening.

The brake liner reportedly overheated near Bibinagar and triggered the flames. The co-pilot noticed the problem and alerted the pilot without delay.

The driver stopped the train after receiving the warning. Railway staff then began efforts to contain the fire while fire personnel moved to the spot.

Firefighters extinguished the flames and secured the affected area. The prompt response helped prevent further escalation.

No passenger injuries were reported. Passengers heaved a sigh of relief after the fire crews brought the flames under control.

Officials also began examining the circumstances that led to the incident. They were assessing the exact cause of the fire.

The alert response from the loco pilot and co-pilot, along with the quick action by fire personnel, prevented a major accident.
