Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Chairman and Managing Director N. Balram on Thursday congratulated the Singareni rescue teams for their record-breaking performance at the national level. He urged them to deliver similar excellence on the international stage.
The Singareni men’s team won the national championship, and the women’s team secured second place at the All India Mines Rescue Competitions held recently in Nagpur. Together, they earned 20 awards, an all-time record for the organisation.
Singareni bags 20 national awards, sets sights on global competition
Addressing the teams via video conference, CMD Balram praised their achievements. He expressed particular delight at the women’s team securing second place in its debut appearance. Moreover, he encouraged both teams to maintain their high standards and prepare for the upcoming International Mines Rescue Competition in Zambia.
At the felicitation event held at Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad, Director (P&P) K. Venkateshwarlu said the teams brought national recognition to SCCL. Rescue General Manager Srinivas Reddy detailed the achievements. The men’s team won first prizes in Rescue Relay, Theory, First Aid, and Rescue & Recovery events. They also secured the overall championship. The women’s team won first place in First Aid and several other accolades.
Notably, Gayathri Challa received the Best Rescuer Award, while Krishnaveni was named Best Captain. Out of 36 teams that competed, Singareni stood out by winning the highest number of awards.
