Hyderabad: A tragic incident unfolded in Shamshabad, where a couple died within hours of each other after the wife, who conceived through IVF, suffered fatal pregnancy complications. The husband later died by suicide at their home.
Wife dies after twin foetuses found dead
According to Shamshabad Airport Police, Muthyala Vijay and his wife Shravya, originally from Bengaluru, had been living in Saama Enclave, Shamshabad, for the past year and a half. After years without children, the couple opted for IVF treatment. Doctors recently confirmed that Shravya was carrying twins, bringing immense joy to the family. Shravya’s mother Sarojini had also come to stay with them to help during the pregnancy.
On November 16, Shravya developed severe abdominal pain. Her family rushed her to a private hospital in Attapur. Doctors there informed the family that both foetuses had died. Moments later, Shravya’s condition worsened, prompting doctors to advise shifting her to another hospital for advanced care.
Husband unable to cope with wife’s death
Sarojini phoned Vijay and explained the situation. She moved Shravya to a hospital in Gudimalkapur around midnight. Vijay reached the hospital shortly after, only to be told at 2:45 a.m. that Shravya had passed away. Shocked by the news, Vijay left the hospital and returned home to Shamshabad.
When doctors later asked for the husband’s signature for formalities, Shravya’s uncle went to their residence. He found Vijay hanging from the ceiling fan in the bedroom. Family members alerted the police, after which Vijay’s brother Praveen reached the spot.
Shamshabad Airport Police registered a case and began an investigation.
