Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Dr. Danasari Anasuya Seethakka on Friday directed district officials to remain on high alert through the rainy season and warned against leaving headquarters during this period.
In a video conference with Additional Collectors, ZP CEOs, and DPOs, Seethakka reviewed the condition of rural roads, drinking water supply, sanitation, and plantation drives across Telangana. She ordered immediate action to repair roads damaged by rains and instructed the formation of a monitoring cell comprising DEs and SEs at the Panchayat Raj Engineering Department headquarters.
She stressed the need to prevent contamination in drinking water systems and called for routine inspection of Mission Bhagiratha pipelines. “Any leaks during rains and floods pose a serious threat. Ensure water tanks are clean and monitored,” she said.
The Minister directed that a special drive be launched in the first week of August to boost greenery and sanitation in villages. Officials were instructed to submit daily reports on rural sanitation, road conditions, and drinking water supply.
Citing the ongoing Vanamahotsavam, she noted that 2.44 crore saplings had already been planted and called for accelerated efforts. Department heads including Principal Secretary N. Sridhar, Director G. Srijana, and ENCs Kripakar Reddy and N. Ashok participated in the review.
