Hyderabad: South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava on Tuesday reviewed safety plans for train operations in view of the likely impact of Cyclone Montha.
He chaired the meeting at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad. Additional General Manager Satya Prakash, department heads, and Divisional Railway Managers from Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur, Secunderabad, Hyderabad, and Nanded joined through video conference.

Srivastava focused on the Vijayawada and Guntur divisions, which lie in the cyclone’s likely path. He reviewed monsoon reserve stock and asked staff to deploy materials at risk-prone locations.
Moreover, he stressed constant tracking of the cyclone and urged close coordination with state authorities and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). He instructed officials to monitor railway tanks and increase patrolling along sensitive track sections.
To improve real-time alerts, SCR deployed watchmen at critical bridges and vulnerable sites. Srivastava highlighted the need for quick action and teamwork to maintain smooth and safe train movement.
Earlier, he presented “Employee of the Month” safety awards to frontline staff, including station masters, loco pilots, pointsmen, and keymen. He praised their efforts and encouraged others to follow their example and stay vigilant.
