Hyderabad, February 7: Schools in multiple districts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will remain closed on 27th February due to the upcoming Member of Legislative Council (MLC) elections. The closure follows the Maha Shivaratri holiday on 26th February, resulting in consecutive days off for students.
The elections are being held for graduate and teacher MLC positions. In Telangana, polling will take place in Medak, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, and Nalgonda districts. In Andhra Pradesh, the affected districts include Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, and Guntur.
Government school teachers are expected to be assigned election duties during this period. The election schedule was announced on 3rd February, with candidate nominations closing on 10th February. The scrutiny of nominations took place on 11th February, and candidates were allowed to withdraw until 13th February. Voting is scheduled for 27th February from 8 AM to 4 PM, and counting will take place on 3rd March.
Students and parents in the affected districts are advised to take note of these closures and plan accordingly.
