Hyderabad: Police arrested a school aya in Shapur Nagar after an attack on five-year-old girl came to light through video evidence. The nursery student faced a brutal assault inside the school, and the disturbing footage prompted her parents to approach the police. Officers filed an attempted murder case based on the complaint.
Investigators explained that the child’s parents, Santoshi and Kaliya from Odisha, moved to the city a few months ago. Santoshi worked at Poornima School as an aya, and her daughter Dharitri studied nursery there. Another aya, Lakshmamma, often targeted the child when the mother stepped away from the classroom.
Video exposes attack on five-year-old girl inside school
On Saturday evening, Lakshmamma pulled the child by her hair and hit her head against the floor. She then pushed the girl down and kicked her. A boy standing near the school recorded the assault on his phone and handed the footage to the parents.
The parents demanded action from the school management, yet no response came. Consequently, they reached Jeedimetla police station on Sunday and submitted the video. Officers arrested Lakshmamma soon after the complaint. They shifted the injured child to a hospital and began a detailed investigation into the attack on five-year-old girl.
Police said the inquiry would continue until all involved responsibilities were established.
