Savitribai Phule paved the way for women’s empowerment, says TPCC chief Mahesh Goud

Hyderabad: TPCC president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud on Wednesday said Savitribai Phule laid a strong foundation for women’s empowerment through her lifelong fight against caste discrimination and her struggle for women’s right to education.

Addressing a programme in Nizamabad, Mahesh Kumar Goud said women excelling in diverse fields today reflected the visionary efforts of Savitribai Phule. He reiterated that the Congress government remained firmly committed to women’s empowerment by following her ideals.

Referring to governance, he said Telangana, under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, was moving forward with a balanced approach that combined development with welfare. In this context, he highlighted that the State had attracted investments worth Rs.5.75 lakh crore through the Global Summit.

He added that the proposed Fourth City would further strengthen Hyderabad’s standing among global cities. According to him, such initiatives would also generate large-scale employment and boost economic growth.

Women’s empowerment central to Congress vision, says TPCC chief

Turning to district-level progress, Mahesh Kumar Goud said Nizamabad was witnessing rapid growth in both industry and agriculture. He pointed to new educational institutions and major infrastructure projects, including the temple corridor road.

He further assured that efforts were underway to sanction an integrated college for Nizamabad district and the Balkonda constituency. Through this, he said, the government aimed to expand higher education opportunities in backward regions.

Meanwhile, expressing confidence after the Congress secured over 90 per cent of seats in the Panchayat 2025 elections, Mahesh Kumar Goud said the party was targeting a clean sweep in the upcoming ZPTC, MPTC and Municipal Corporation elections. He reaffirmed the Congress commitment to people-centric governance.
