Sathupalli cyber fraud arrests: Six more held in ongoing probe

Hyderabad: Police arrested six more accused in the Sathupalli cyber fraud arrests case on Thursday night, taking the total number of persons held to 20. The arrests followed a complaint lodged by a victim who alleged he was cheated by cyber offenders earlier this week.

Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Sathupalli police station on Monday. Investigators began an inquiry and identified 22 suspects in connection with the fraud. On the same day, police arrested 14 of them and produced them before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.

However, eight suspects remained absconding. As part of continued searches, police traced and arrested six of the remaining accused on Thursday night. They were also produced before a magistrate and remanded to custody.

The arrested persons were identified as Islavath Lakshmi Kalyan, Bhukya Tarun, Billa Sai Tarun, Sangem Praveen Kumar, Veeramsetti Vamsi and Akhil Abdul. Police said efforts were under way to apprehend the remaining two accused.

The Sathupalli cyber fraud arrests stemmed from allegations that the accused deceived the complainant through online means. Investigators are examining digital evidence and financial transaction records as part of the probe.

Sathupalli Inspector Tummalapalli Srihari is leading the investigation. Police stated that further legal action would follow based on the findings of the ongoing inquiry.
