Hyderabad: The Saifabad police recovered a lost handbag worth about ₹4 lakh within 30 minutes on March 27, 2026, after tracing and returning it to a pilgrim from Tamil Nadu.
Smt. Manimegala, wife of Doraswamy Shetti, had accidentally left her handbag in a Rapido auto-rickshaw near the Lakdikapul Metro Station bus stop late at night. The bag contained 25 grams of gold bangles, 2 grams of gold ear studs, ₹30,000 in cash, and important documents.
Police acted immediately after receiving the complaint. They deployed technical surveillance tools and accessed Rapido service data to identify the vehicle. Soon after, the team traced the auto-rickshaw to the Chaderghat area.

The crime team located the vehicle and recovered the handbag with all items intact. Officers then transported it safely to the police station for verification.
Following standard procedures, the police confirmed ownership details and handed over the belongings to the complainant. Manimegala thanked the officers for their quick response and efficient handling of the case.
