Hyderabad: Police on Monday arrested a rowdy sheeter in connection with an attempt to murder case reported at Musheerabad Police Station following a violent attack near Parsigutta.
According to police, the rowdy sheeter, Kokku Stephen alias Kokku David Stephen, attacked 25-year-old Sri Surya Anil near Mother Merry School during a compromise discussion. During the assault, he allegedly used a sharp-edged blade and a wooden stick. As a result, the victim sustained bleeding injuries to his neck and elbows.
After the attack, the injured man escaped from the spot and immediately reached Musheerabad Police Station. Subsequently, police shifted him to Gandhi Hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, officers registered a case under Crime No. 24/2026 for attempt to murder under Section 109 read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Rowdy sheeter attack traced to earlier dispute
Investigators said the complainant and the rowdy sheeter had known each other for the past four to five years. Earlier, in March 2024, the complainant celebrated his birthday at the house of the prime accused while the latter was in jail.
However, the following day, a quarrel broke out with the mother of the accused, leading to her assault. Consequently, police registered Crime No. 107/2024 at Musheerabad Police Station. Since then, officers said, the rowdy sheeter had been nursing a grudge.
Accordingly, on February 8, 2026, the rowdy sheeter, along with two others, intercepted a common friend. On the pretext of a compromise, they allegedly forced him to reveal the complainant’s location. Soon after, the accused reached the spot, picked up an argument, and attacked the complainant with an intention to kill.
Police apprehended the rowdy sheeter under the supervision of Rakshitha Krishna Murthy, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Secunderabad Zone, and J. Narasaiah. The operation was led by K. Shashank Reddy.
Inspectors of Police from Warasiguda Police Station carried out the arrest. Meanwhile, A. Mallikarjun is investigating the case with the assistance of staff.
